Ending the cruel ‘Draize’ rabbit test

Ending the cruel 'Draize' rabbit test
Rabbits don't belong in laboratories. Can't read this email properly? Click here to open in your browser. Please add info@crueltyfreeinternationalnews.org to your address book and safe senders list.
Did you know that rabbits have almost 360° vision? With their incredibly powerful back legs, they are able to jump heights of up to three feet and run up to 45 miles per hour. Their teeth never stop growing; and their milk is amongst the most calorific of all mammals, meaning they only feed their new born young once or twice a day. Rabbits are fascinating animals.

But tragically thousands of rabbits are imprisoned in laboratories around the world to test products like hair dye, toilet cleaner and bleach.

They are restrained by their necks in stocks, while chemicals are dripped in their eyes
.

They are then left to suffer the effects for up to three weeks.

This notoriously cruel 'Draize' test, can cause immense pain and suffering. It can destroy a rabbit's eye – even causing blindness.

Please help Cruelty Free International ban this cruel practice around the world.

There is hope, Marianela. Cruelty Free International works with governments, regulators and commercial interests globally to put an end to this awful practice. And we are making remarkable progress.

For example, this year we funded a training programme for scientists in Vietnam on how to use humane alternatives. The Vietnamese Government has since agreed to end the use of the Draize to test cosmetics.

But we need to ban this horrific test in every country in the world.

This Sunday marks International Rabbit Day. In the name of the countless rabbits across the world imprisoned in laboratories for cruel product testing, please make a donation today and help us make this International Rabbit Day count.

Together, we will end the horrific use of rabbits in product testing.

Thank you.
